New Technology Checklist

Here are a few quick tips on what to do or what not to do when you have that great big idea!

Do not just go out and pay for new products without first vetting them.  If a free version exists of the product, definitely try it first!

If it’s something you’ll be stuck with in 15 years, think through it before comitting!

Ask someone who knows.  You don’t have to reinvent the wheel. (yes, I’ve been this person before)

  • Watch out for the person who thinks they know but really doesn’t. (yes, I’ve been this person before)
  • Watch out for the person who only does it one way because that’s the only way they care to do it. (yes, I’ve been this person before)

Don’t always go with the first google search result you find on a topic.

Are there security risks?  Opening another account is another way hackers and the dark web can get at you with.

Is it secure?  Is the site or communications encrypted? (https is good 🙂

Has the company been hacked before? This does not necessarily mean they are bad.  It can actually mean that they put more thought into security and it’s way better than others!
